Will the crew of STS-119 launch into orbit on Space Shuttle Discovery one week from tonight? Only time will tell. What we can tell you is that many plans are in motion to support the Feb. 27th launch! Let's hope that this date sticks!
Without any news to the contrary, Tony left home less than an hour ago to begin his week-long Health Stabilization Program (a.k.a. quarantine) at Johnson Space Center's Crew Quarters here in Houston. If all goes well, the crew will leave for Florida on Sunday afternoon and settle into Crew Quarters at Kennedy Space Center for the remainder of their pre-launch isolation. We should know by tomorrow night (Friday, Feb 20) if the 27th is looking good. NASA plans to hold a news conference following a review of space shuttle Discovery's readiness for flight and an assessment of shuttle flow control valve testing.
